Six Days of Poems about Plants

  1. Canopy of Plants

    Did John say canopy?
    of trees
where Tarzan swings and macaws squawk with bumblebees?
    Or did he spake
    Canapés
    Tasty morsels
    Like pate and Applebees?
    Or might he mean
    a can of mealy peas
    that mom infested me?
    I guess will never know
    for it remains a mystery.

  2. Oak Owl

    Through the canopy

    Of dusk territory

    Staring up blindly

    Making sure not to

    stumble

    Watching me

  3. Lone pine canopy.
    It's a girl's dream.
    Not really.
    Nobody has the power beyond
    this electrified
    silence
    but to imagine
    slam bam
    thank you
    whisper thank you
    bye

    secret
    evening

    please

  4. Overgrown from underneath
    And choking
    Years of deadwood hang
It was a job for long sleeves and sharp tools
    To find some light
    To green.
